I am a German national who has travelled the world quite a bit.
In 1993 I came to Costa Rica with my family. We came here with a motor home after travelling through the United States and Mexico. We first settled down in Guanacaste in a small village in the highest mountain range of the Nicoya Peninsula where we bought a farm and built a house. We were the first foreigners living in that area – pioneers so to say.
Costa Rica has changed a lot since then, but mostly for the better. Now, Costa Rica is one of the leading countries in the world when environmental protection is concerned.
The people here are friendly and peaceful and smile more than in other places. No wonder that Costa Rica was chosen the happiest country in the world in 2009! I feel very fortunate and proud to be living in this beautiful country and I think that Costa Rica has a great future!
